Sony reveals Vision Exchange solution

Sony has introduced Vision Exchange, a new collaboration solution that encourages discussions with active learning and content sharing for education and corporate users.

Vision Exchange aims to bring together students, lecturers and presenters in a workgroup-based environment that encourages creative discussion and knowledge exchange.

Ideal for universities, colleges of higher education and corporate conference rooms, Vision Exchange provides a flexible solution to suit a wide range of teaching spaces and meeting areas. Teams can brainstorm and work collaboratively, wirelessly sharing content from everyone’s laptop or tablet. It is just as easy to bring in participants to join the discussion by adding a video connection to remote locations.

“There are other collaborative tools out there, reflecting a major shift from passive to active learning that’s become increasingly prevalent over the last decade,” commented Garry Cox, product manager at Sony Professional Solutions Europe. “But until now this fast-growing market hasn’t been offered a workgroup-focused solution for today’s BYOD environments with the power, flexibility and intuitive appeal of Vision Exchange.”

Available via simple license option, a remote communication option lets workgroups connect with other sites using standards-based videoconference systems. Participants can share not only content from their own devices (laptops, tablets and smartphones) images, but annotations overlaid on images or whiteboard description in real-time.

Currently most meeting rooms are based around a cabled single content source and a single display, plus a dedicated AV system with switchers, videoconferencing systems and other hardware. This complex set-up is frequently a cause of wasted time and frustration, as presenters struggle with awkward wiring instead of focusing on the meeting itself. Vision Exchange is designed to eliminate these operational headaches, allowing participants to focus on the meeting with improved communication.

The new Vision Exchange active learning solution for higher education and corporate use will be available in Europe from June 2017.
