PPDS staff join colleagues to run Dutch race for charity

Alongside team members from sister brands MMD Monitors and Displays, TP Vision, and AOC, the PPDS participants joined the Dam tot Damloop race to raise funds for Eye Care Foundation

PPDS, the global provider of Philips Professional Displays, has teamed up with colleagues from its sister brands MMD Monitors and Displays, TP Vision, and AOC, to conquer the annual ‘Dam tot Damloop’ – the Netherlands’ largest and most iconic running event – to raise funds for the Eye Care Foundation charity for the second consecutive year.

Running as part of TPV Cares – a foundation that brings life-changing help and support to people and communities in more than 200 countries and territories – members of the team came together on September 21, to take part in the 10m (16.1km) route from Amsterdam to Zaandam.

Joining approximately 35,000 other runners, the latest TPV Cares charity initiative united colleagues in supporting the Eye Care Foundation, an Amsterdam-based, not-for-profit organisation, that helps to prevent and cure avoidable blindness and visual impairment in developing countries, such as Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Ecuador, Tanzania, Suriname, Zambia and Rwanda.

Vision and eye care remain a major global challenge, with the WHO reporting that at least 2.2bn people worldwide are navigating near or distance vision impairment. To date, the Eye Care Foundation has helped provide over 7,484,000 eye screenings to people worldwide, along with more than 805,400 eye surgeries and over 63,000 pairs of eyeglasses.

Marion Chaignon, senior marketing manager EMEA at PPDS, said: “With every stride, the runners not only contributed to the success of this year’s Dam tot Damloop – we also reinforced the shared commitment of PPDS, MMD, TP Vision, and AOC to support communities worldwide.

“The team spirit and camaraderie at events like this makes the 10m – that’s 16km – of the Dam tot Damloop feel easy. Running through the IJ Tunnel is an obvious highlight, but the course gives a unique view of these two cities as well. This was my second year taking part in this event, and I thank my team members, and TPV Cares, for the opportunity.”

Stefan van Sabben, global CSR and sustainability lead at PPDS, said: “Sustaining long term partnerships with charities such as the Eye Care Foundation is incredibly important to us. These relationships allow us to create real, lasting impact. I am especially proud that colleagues from across our organisation have stepped up once again to support this vital cause, demonstrating the dedication and spirit that define our company culture.”
