Scottish hotel chooses Tannoy solution

A combination of Tannoy's DVS and CVX ranges of loudspeakers have been installed as part of a revamp of East Kilbride's The Torrence Hotel.

As part of a renovation project designed to modernise The Torrance Hotel located in East Kilbride, Scotland, the hotel, bar and restaurant now have an upgraded audio system comprising Tannoy’s DVS and CVS series loudspeakers.
Audio consultant Bryce Keachie of design and installation company Keachie Electronics was tasked with choosing and installing a system that was both consistent and appropriate for all of the different areas in the hotel, as well as being complementary to the rest of the architecture.
Keachie opted for a mixture of in-ceiling and wall-mounted speakers for the areas where light background music would be required. A combination of Tannoy’s commercial install product ranges, the DVS and CVS, were installed, with the latter affording versatility due to its point-source driver design, which enables vertical or horizontal mounting without affecting the dispersion and coverage control.
For the sports bar and conservatory restaurant, where a little more volume and power was required to cope with a variety of different events that the Torrance holds, Keachie selected Tannoy’s new VXP Series, which feature Lab.gruppen’s new IDEEA (Intelli-Drive Energy Efficient Amplifier) power module. The new self-powered loudspeakers build on the existing V Series range, but mark the first time that Tannoy and sister company Lab.gruppen have worked together on a product line.
“I have worked with Tannoy loudspeakers a lot in the past, so I knew that whatever solution I chose would be reliable and have that hallmark of quality,” said Keachie. “Apart from that, the client was very happy to be using loudspeakers from a renowned manufacturer situated in Scotland, as Tannoy is.”
