AJA to acquire video encoding specialist Comprimato

Planned deal will bring Comprimato's live transcoding, standards conversion and ST 2110 encoding software under AJA Video Systems's umbrella, with development focused on expanding the BRIDGE LIVE IP streaming product family

AJA Video Systems has announced an agreement to acquire Comprimato, a Czech Republic-based live video encoding and processing software company, in a move designed to accelerate development of its BRIDGE LIVE line of IP streaming products.

As part of the deal, AJA will take on Comprimato’s full software portfolio, including its Live Transcoder, Live Standards Conversion tool, Twenty-One ST 2110 encoding appliance and JPEG 2000 Codec SDK. Comprimato will continue to operate as a separate brand under AJA and retain its European offices, with existing sales structures and shipping products unaffected.

Comprimato CEO and co-founder Jiří Matela and the full Comprimato team will join AJA upon closing. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Nick Rashby, president at AJA Video Systems, said: “The synergies between our companies and technology are undeniable, and together, we’ll be able to address rapidly evolving customer needs faster than ever and break new ground in broadcast production.”
