LG launches micro LED display for luxury home cinema

Manufacturer's 136in 4K Ultra HD micro LED display, with Dolby Vision HDR and α9 AI processing, is designed to deliver pixel-level control and high-contrast performance

LG Electronics USA has unveiled a 136in 4K Ultra HD micro LED display designed for high-end residential cinema and scalable large-format visual environments. The display incorporates Active Matrix micro LED technology, which the company says allows precise control of individual pixels compared with conventional passive systems.

Part of LG’s premium lineup, the display offers a claimed million-to-one contrast ratio and is designed to deliver high brightness, deep blacks, and consistent colour across its large screen surface.

LG says the active matrix design enables each self-emissive micro LED pixel to be driven individually, supporting finer detail, improved uniformity, and reduced image artefacts. Proprietary surface treatment and tightly aligned modules are intended to minimise panel gaps, flicker, and ghosting, even under bright ambient light.

The system is powered by LG’s sixth-generation α9 AI processor, which the company says analyses content to optimise clarity, reduce noise, and enhance motion. A variable refresh rate up to 144Hz is designed to benefit fast-moving content such as sports and gaming.

LG has also integrated its webOS smart TV platform, providing access to streaming services, LG Channels, and gallery-style visual content. The display supports AirPlay 2 and Miracast for wireless screen sharing, and features built-in 4.2-channel speakers with eARC support for external audio.

The company says the display is intended to scale into B2B applications, including boardrooms, design studios, medical visualisation, and other environments where image accuracy and reliability are critical.

Michael Kosla, B2B senior vice president, LG Electronics USA, said: “With its size, colour performance and image precision, the display is designed to deliver a cinematic experience in both residential and professional environments.”
