Silex Insight joins AIMS

Silex Insight is the latest company to become a member of the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS).

The company, headquartered in Brussels, provides high-end image/video compression solutions and a custom OEM board (VIPER) for distributing low-latency 4K HDR video-over-IP.

“We’ve been committed for many years to open standards such as SMPTE 2110 and AES67 with our VIPER AVoIP platform,” said Jean-Marie Cloquet, CTO, Silex Insight. “We’re thrilled to join an alliance that carries the same beliefs to create true interoperability in the AVoIP world.”

The move comes as AIMS’ new Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) set of open standards and specifications gains traction in the AV industry.

“We’re so pleased that leading AV supplier Silex Insight is now part of AIMS, as the company’s perspective and expertise will inform further work in the migration to AV over IP,” said David Chiappini, chair of the AIMS ProAV Working Group.

“IMPX has drawn a great deal of interest since its introduction earlier this year, and we look forward to working with Silex Insight and other AIMS member companies to continue educating the ProAV industry on how IPMX support enables true interoperability.”

According to AIMS, IPMX addresses the Pro-AV industry’s need for a single set of common, ubiquitous standards-based protocols that ensure interoperability for AV-over-IP. Implementing a standards-based approach based on SMPTE ST 2110, IPMX open standards and specifications are designed to enable carriage of compressed and uncompressed video, audio, and data over IP networks.
