PPDS launches lower-cost dvLED series for indoor spaces

Philips Public LED 5000 Series is designed for indoor spaces – like offices, theatres, churches, shopping centres – and aimed at organisations wishing to replace LED screens with 'investment friendly' dvLED

PPDS has launched its first line of elementary direct view LED solutions, with the more ‘investment-friendly’ Philips Public LED 5000 Series. Designed for retail and shopping centre environments, it is aimed at organisations wishing to replace existing LED screens with dvLED at a lower cost, and is available globally, including in EMEA, India, North America, and APAC.

The series comes in 44” (500 x 1000mm) and 28” (500 x 500mm) panel variants. Each offers a choice of modules with three different pixel pitches and dimensions of 1.9pp (128 x 128), 2.5pp (100 x 100) and 3.9pp (64 x 64). The 500 x 1000 and 500 x 500 metric sized panels have also been designed to facilitate implementation for interior and retail architects. Meanwhile the flat screen, or concave, creations deliver up to 500 nit brightness and offer 150 degree viewing angles.

The 44” and 28” panel variants are interchangeable, and together with PPDS’ ‘Smart Rotation’ design, can be installed in a mix of either portrait or landscape modes. PPDS says a mix and match approach can reduce the square metre costs for installations. Installation time has been reduced by around 50 per cent compared to conventional LED panels, the company says, with the board-to-board design of the LED modules to the panel incorporating pre-wired data and power for a cable-free set up.

The series is the first PPDS LED solution to support both wall mountable and ceiling ‘fixed hoisting’ installations. It has dedicated connection plates and a range of optional hoisting/hanging bars, allowing displays to be hoisted from a ceiling to a maximum display height of five metres.

Jeroen Brants, global product director, Philips dvLED displays at PPDS, said: “The new Philips Public 5000 Series is our most investment-friendly LED solution to date. Driven by market demand, and as the appeal and growth of dvLED in public areas continue to rise, we’re ensuring we have a portfolio to match all needs and budgets. An entry level LED solution was something both our existing and prospective partners and customers have requested, and we are delighted to have obliged.”

PPDS partners and customers will shortly be able to test and experience the new Philips Public LED 5000 Series in person in their local PPDS Studio, including in France, Germany, India, Italy, the Netherlands, North America, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.
