Sommer Cable's ISE 2015 stand featured the Cardinal DVM line of loudspeakers from Germany, which, with high-grade wooden cabinets and an optimised driver selection and crossover design, are being targeted at installers.
The loudspeakers, which can all be used directly on the amplifier without a controller, feature compact enclosures with a number of integrated mounting points and accessories, as well as an optional lacquer finish in RAL custom colours.
The DVM-SP06C flushmount ceiling loudspeaker (pictured) is equipped with a 6.5in coaxial driver with a damp-resistant cone. With 8Ω impedance, it can handle up to 70W and produces a SPL of 90dB 1W/1m. A 100V version is also available.
Installing into circular ceiling cutouts is made possible by SNAP-IN technology, with the solid protective grille attached fast and easily via bayonet lock. The loudspeaker meets Germanischer Lloyd requirements and may be used within a temperature range from -40 to +80° C.
The DVM-SP0501 compact loudspeaker is equipped with a 5.25in low-mid driver and a 1in HF horn driver combination. The company says that the high power handling of 300W with a maximum sound pressure level of 120dB and very good speech reproduction make the SP0501 a universal tool for small to medium-sized PA applications. The 16Ω impedance supports placing several speakers in parallel without overburdening the amplifier.
The enclosure of the 3.6kg loudspeaker features eight M8 flying points and also an M10 thread for fitting the optional DVM-SP05-AS speaker stand flange adapter. The loudspeaker is also available with a 100V transformer for ELA applications.
The DVM-SP4601 column universal speaker is equipped with four 6.5in cone drivers and one 1in HF driver on a radial horn. With an impedance of 4Ω the loudspeaker can handle up to 300W, with a maximum SPL of 129dB. It features eight M8 flying points and can be mounted using the optional DVM-SP46-WM-WS wall holder.
