Peavey launches pendant commercial speaker series

New Impulse Pendant Speaker Series offers three models designed for retail spaces, hospitality venues and open-ceiling commercial interiors

Peavey Electronics has launched the Impulse Pendant Speaker Series, a trio of commercial-grade loudspeakers designed for retail spaces, hospitality venues and open-ceiling commercial interiors where sound clarity and architectural aesthetics are both priorities.

The series comprises three models – the Impulse P4, P6.5 and P8 – each built around a two-way passive, bass-reflex design and housed in a flame-retardant polypropylene enclosure. All three are available in black or white and use a pendant mounting format that the company says eliminates the need for wall or ceiling modifications, preserving architectural integrity while suspending the speaker closer to the listening area.

The flagship P8 features an 8in polypropylene cone woofer paired with a 1.1in silk tweeter, is rated at 60 watts and is capable of peak sound pressure levels of 112dB. Frequency response extends to 55Hz (-3dB), and the enclosure weighs 11 pounds. The P8 supports 70V and 100V distributed audio systems with selectable transformer taps of 7.5W, 15W, 30W and 60W, plus an 8-ohm bypass.

The mid-range P6.5 uses a 6.5in woofer and a 1in silk tweeter, also rated at 60 watts with a peak SPL of 112dB. Frequency response reaches 70Hz (-10dB) and the enclosure weighs 7.7 pounds. Transformer taps are selectable at 3.75W, 7.5W, 15W and 30W, with an 8-ohm bypass also provided.

The most compact model, the P4, is built around a 4in woofer and a 0.75in silk tweeter and is rated at 30 watts, with peak SPLs of up to 108dB. Frequency response extends to 77Hz (-10dB) and the unit weighs 5.5 pounds. Like its larger stablemates, it supports both 70V and 100V operation with selectable taps at 3.75W, 7.5W, 15W and 30W.

Across the series, all three models share a consistent specification set including Euroblock input connectors, a 90-degree x 90-degree coverage pattern and dual suspension points with safety cables for secure overhead installation. The pendant format is designed to allow greater freedom in interior layout by removing the need for ceiling cutouts or wall mounting.

Peavey says the matte finish and clean aesthetic of the Impulse series is intended to appeal to architects and designers working in commercial environments where loudspeaker visibility is a consideration. The series is available now from Peavey Electronics, headquartered in Meridian, Mississippi.
