The changing role of the control room in an era of distributed production and remote operations will be the focus of the sixth panel at the inaugural AV & Broadcast Summit, taking place in London on June 24 and co-hosted by Installation and TVBEurope. The panel will feature experts from ITN and Encore Global.
Scheduled for 245pm-315pm, The Modern Control Room: Managing Distributed Operations will explore how broadcasters and media organisations are adapting control room environments to support remote teams, IP-based workflows and continuous content delivery, and how similar approaches are increasingly being adopted in enterprise sectors.
Moderated by Rob Lane, content director at Installation, the discussion will examine how control room design is evolving, from multi-platform monitoring and operational resilience to cybersecurity considerations and the management of increasingly complex workflows.
Among the panellists is Lucy O’Brien, head of technical delivery, ITN – Channel 4 News. With more than 20 years of experience spanning engineering, consultancy, project management and technology leadership, O’Brien has overseen the delivery of complex media systems and operational environments within broadcast organisations.
Joining her is Danielle Taylor, AV project manager, Encore Global. Taylor’s career spans both broadcast and AV environments, including the redevelopment of the Attenborough Studio at London’s Natural History Museum into a hybrid broadcasting studio, control room and live events venue. Her experience includes live production, streaming workflows, technical operations and project delivery across a range of corporate and event environments.
The session will explore how lessons learned in broadcast control rooms are being applied more widely across sectors including enterprise, government and utilities, where organisations face similar challenges around operational oversight, resilience and the management of distributed teams.
Panellists will also discuss the impact of IP connectivity, remote production models and changing user expectations on the future design of control room environments.
AV & Broadcast Summit is a one-day event co-hosted by Installation and TVBEurope, bringing together practitioners from both sectors to examine shared workflows, technologies and opportunities across IP, cloud, virtual production, AI, audio and control room design.
