Visionary AVoIP drives immersive Boots launch

Manufacturer’s 4K60 4:4:4 system powered projection-led event in Nottingham, UK, for No7 Beauty Company, owned by British health and beauty retailer Boots

Visionary AVoIP technology was at the centre of Boots’ No7 Beauty Company’s annual product launch, where 20 endpoints from the company’s 5 Series 4K60 4:4:4 system were deployed to create a “fully immersive experience”, in Nottingham, UK.

The event, produced for British health and beauty retailer Boots’ flagship beauty brand, took place in a wall-to-wall projection environment featuring a thrust stage that extended into the audience. With eight large projection surfaces and high-resolution requirements beyond the capacity of SDI distribution, integrator Insight Presentation Systems selected Visionary’s IP-based system to handle signal delivery.

Visionary’s 5 Series represents the latest generation of the company’s PacketAV Matrix Series, designed to deliver 4K60 4:4:4 video transport with isochronous USB over IP for webcam extension and a full-motion MJPEG substream for secondary, lower-bandwidth video distribution.

The 5 Series endpoints are designed to provide low-latency video distribution and flexible network integration. According to Visionary, the system’s loop-through capability allowed Insight to streamline cabling and use the existing network infrastructure, supported by Netgear switches, without compromising image quality or synchronisation.

Mathew Cook, technical director for Insight Presentation Systems, said: “We’ve been producing events for Boots for over seven years. No7 Beauty Company’s annual launch has become a highlight of our calendar, and every year the scope expands. This year’s configuration was the most ambitious yet.

“Almost overnight, we shifted nearly the entire video system to Visionary. This became the largest live event project we’ve ever done with Visionary by a significant margin.”

Jacques Batchelor, also from Insight Presentation Systems, added: “The network loop-through meant we didn’t have to run multiple network cables to the truss for projector control. That made the install smoother and saved us time on-site.”

During the show, Visionary provided direct technical support when challenges arose. Cook commented: “We had senior-level technical support within hours. The speed and level of response were impressive, especially given that we’re a relatively small operation.”

Insight plans to continue using Visionary’s 5 Series across upcoming shows. Cook added: “There are nearly 10 events this year where we plan to leverage Visionary’s 5 Series.”
