Sonos completes commercial install of new pro speaker

Resimercial deployment of Era 100 Pro speaker serves marketing suite for 100 Kensington, a high-end residential development, in London

Sonos has completed the first professional installation of the Era 100 Pro product in the UK. The audio company supplied an integrated audio system for the 100 Kensington luxury residential marketing suite, in London.

The location for the resimercial install is a high-end residential development by SevenCapital and MARK Capital Management. The space is designed to showcase the lifestyle and technology options available to prospective buyers, blending residential aesthetics with commercial functionality.

Audio was specified to operate as a multi-zone system across the suite, providing higher sound levels at the entrance and more subdued playback in demonstration and discussion areas. The system also needed to accommodate events, while remaining simple for non-technical staff to operate.

Integrator Musical Images specified six Sonos Era 100 Pro speakers and two Era 100 models. The Era 100 Pro units were installed in exposed ceilings using PoE+, allowing power and network connectivity via a single cable. Sonos says this approach simplified installation and avoided disruption to the finished interior.

The glass-heavy architecture of the marketing suite created acoustic challenges, which were addressed using Sonos Trueplay technology. The software is designed to measure room acoustics and automatically adjust EQ settings, while the speakers were angled to project sound downwards for more controlled coverage.

Two standard Era 100 speakers were installed in the show apartments to demonstrate optional in-home audio packages. These systems mirror what buyers could deploy in their own apartments, reinforcing the resimercial nature of the project by linking the commercial sales environment with a residential end use.

Pat Shah, director at Musical Images, said: “Using PoE+ and existing cabling made the installation straightforward, while the software-based control meant the client could manage zones and volume without specialist training.”

Sarah Morris, group marketing director at SevenCapital, added: “The system is easy to use day to day, and it helps us demonstrate the kind of audio experience buyers could have in their own homes.”
