Sonos Era 100 Pro speakers have been installed at Wendy’s outlets at the Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull and the Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill, with further rollouts planned as the US fast-food chain targets 50 UK outlets.
The Solihull site presented a number of acoustic and aesthetic challenges, including open ceilings, exposed cable trays and industrial design elements, Sonos said. Previous speaker installations had relied on units suspended from cable trays, resulting in excess cabling and inconsistent sound coverage. The Era 100 Pro units are designed to mount discreetly on walls or ceilings using standard brackets and CAT6 cabling, minimising visible hardware while allowing zone-based audio control across different areas of the restaurant.
The company said zone control was a key requirement for the installation, with the front of the restaurant requiring higher volume levels to create atmosphere, while quieter areas cater to customers looking to work or relax. Staff manage the system via the Sonos app on a tablet device.
The system was installed by Paul’s Aerial Solutions on behalf of UK franchise partner Blank Table. Following the success of the Solihull deployment, the same system has since been rolled out at the Merry Hill location.
Carl Morris, managing director at Blank Table, said: “It just works really well. I think they’ve nailed it with the ease of use of the app.”
Morris added: “The system ticks every box and sounds even better now than it did two months ago.”
