Sonos powers zoned audio at Zurich boutique hospitality venue

Solution spans guest suites, dining and event spaces, with tech including 15 pairs of Sonos Era 100 Pro speakers and five Sonos Arc Ultra soundbars, plus two Outdoor Speakers by Sonos and Sonance covering exterior areas, and Sonos Amp units forming the backbone of the system

Sonos has deployed a zoned audio system across Mews House, a new boutique hospitality venue in Zurich’s Paradeplatz combining guest suites, dining, retail and event spaces within a restored 17th-century building.

The venue required a single, unified audio ecosystem while maintaining guest privacy in individual rooms, and needed to integrate with the building’s existing KNX system for lighting, climate control and concierge services, all accessible via in-room iPads. Speakers were installed across almost every space, including guest suites, restaurant, bar, retail area and rooftop terrace.

The installation comprises 15 pairs of Sonos Era 100 Pro speakers and five Sonos Arc Ultra soundbars in guest rooms, with two Outdoor Speakers by Sonos and Sonance covering exterior areas, and Sonos Amp units forming the backbone of the system. The system is divided into multiple zones covering the indoor and outdoor bar, restaurant, retail area and individual guest rooms, with control managed primarily through iPads and mobile devices.

The system was installed by partner SAT Multimedia, with added-value distributor Stilus supporting concept design, planning and commissioning.

Lukas Hasler, head of hospitality at Mews House, said: “The biggest advantage with Sonos is that it’s very easy to handle, and it’s very well known. If you have any issues, you can find solutions quickly, and the sound quality is really excellent.”

The zoning allows staff to tailor audio to different settings, from refined playlists in the restaurant to more relaxed tones on the rooftop terrace, while grouped zones maintain consistency where needed.
