Powersoft and Bose systems support Vietnam memorial

Three Quattrocanali 4804 DSP amplifiers, paired with Bose Professional loudspeakers, deliver background music across a COVID-19 memorial park in Ho Chi Minh City

A Powersoft and Bose Professional audio system has been installed at a COVID-19 memorial park in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, delivering background music intended both as a tribute to those lost during the pandemic and as an amenity for the surrounding community. The system pairs three Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 DSP amplifiers with Bose Professional loudspeakers and a Bose ControlSpace signal processing and control platform, networked via a Cisco Catalyst switch.

The park is home to “The Tear”, a 6m reflective stainless-steel sculpture featuring a teardrop form with a heart-shaped void at its centre. The monument honours both the victims of COVID-19 and the frontline workers who served during the crisis, with a stepped circular base incorporating symbolic motifs drawn from Vietnamese culture.

Hoàng Phú Sound, a Ho Chi Minh City-based audio systems integrator and Powersoft distributor, was appointed to deliver the park’s complete audio installation, selecting the Quattrocanali 4804 DSP as the amplifier platform and specifying Bose Professional loudspeakers and ControlSpace processing to handle distribution and control across the site.

The project presented several technical demands: the amplifiers needed to operate continuously in an outdoor environment subject to the heat and humidity of Ho Chi Minh City, the scale of the site required long speaker cable runs calling for a high-impedance distribution solution to minimise signal loss, and the system needed to perform consistently under variable local mains conditions.

On the amplification side, Powersoft’s Power Factor Correction (PFC) technology is designed to allow the amplifiers to operate stably under fluctuating mains conditions, containing current draw, reducing harmonic distortion on the supply and contributing to cooler operating temperatures. The amplifiers’ high-impedance (Hi-Z) output is intended to minimise signal loss across extended cable runs, while Powersoft’s Smart Rails Management (SRM) technology dynamically manages power rails to match load conditions, aiming to reduce energy consumption and heat without compromising output quality.

On the loudspeaker side, the system uses 18 Bose Professional AMU208 units, 25 Bose Professional FS4SE loudspeakers and six Bose FreeSpace FS2C loudspeakers, distributed across the park’s commemorative and communal spaces, with signal processing and control handled by a Bose ControlSpace CC-64 Control Center and ESP-880A Engineered Sound Processor.

Mai Nguyen Hung Truong, technical director at Hoàng Phú Sound, said: “The Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 DSP proved to be the ideal solution. Its multi-channel architecture allowed us to divide the system into multiple zones quickly and easily.” He added: “Power Sharing provided flexible power allocation between channels. This significantly streamlined system design and helped optimise overall spend on this solution.”
