BBC Studioworks has installed two INFiLED DBmk2 Series LED walls at its Television Centre facility in London, providing the broadcast backdrop for live National Lottery draws – a project that illustrates the growing convergence of professional display technology and live broadcast production.

The two 5 x 3m, 1.95mm pixel-pitch screens are positioned at 90 degrees to one another, allowing the studio environment to switch instantly between the visual identities of multiple lottery games. The draws air six nights a week across the UK, leaving no margin for downtime.

INFiLED says that managing moiré patterning was a key technical consideration, with the 1.95mm pixel pitch chosen to prevent visual interference between the LED grid and camera sensors. INFiLED’s CBSF (Colour and Brightness Shift Free) technology maintains consistent colour temperature across a 160-degree viewing angle, while the ultra-black LED surface supports the contrast levels required in a tightly controlled studio lighting environment.
BBC Studioworks conducted extensive testing before procurement, assessing the panels under its own camera conditions.
Tim Wood, head of Television Centre at BBC Studioworks, said: “We chose the INFiLED DBmk2 Series because of its reliability and high resolution. We were really impressed with the quality of the product visually, electronically and mechanically.”
Wood added: “We are well into having the studio up and running, and Allwyn UK, our client, couldn’t be happier.”
