HARMAN Professional audio technology, combining JBL Professional loudspeakers, Crown amplifiers, Soundcraft mixers and BSS Audio signal processing, has been installed at Al-Aziz Al-Hakim Mosque in Moqattam, Cairo, delivered by Audio Technology, HARMAN Professional’s distributor in Egypt. The system was designed to provide consistent speech intelligibility throughout the mosque’s main prayer hall and outdoor gathering areas, while overcoming long reverberation times created by the building’s stone and marble surfaces and limited loudspeaker placement options dictated by its architecture.
The system is built around JBL Professional CBT Series column loudspeakers installed throughout the main prayer hall, using Constant Beamwidth Technology to direct sound toward the congregation while reducing reflections from walls and ceilings. Outdoor areas are served by JBL Professional AWC Series all-weather loudspeakers, replacing the conventional horn loudspeakers commonly used in similar installations.
Soundcraft digital mixing consoles provide control for daily prayers, religious events and live productions, powered by Crown XLS and Crown CDi DriveCore Series amplifiers and managed through a BSS Soundweb platform featuring BLU-100 signal processors and EC-8BV wall controllers.

The JBL CBT loudspeakers provided uniform coverage and speech intelligibility required for the main prayer hall, while the JBL AWC loudspeakers delivered natural sound outdoors.”
The networked architecture enables signal routing between worship spaces and outdoor gathering areas, with operators able to switch system configurations for different event types, while time alignment between indoor and outdoor loudspeakers is designed to maintain consistent audio without distracting echoes or overlapping coverage. The system also supports live broadcasts of major religious events.
Mosque leadership and worshippers have already reported improvements in speech intelligibility and overall system performance, particularly during multilingual events and larger religious gatherings, alongside positive feedback on the system’s day-to-day operational simplicity.
