Quba Mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia, has implemented a HARMAN Professional audio system designed to deliver consistent, intelligible sound across its expanded prayer spaces. The mosque, one of four mentioned in the Quran, recently underwent its largest expansion as part of the King Salman Project, increasing capacity to accommodate up to 66,000 worshippers across 50,000sqm.
The installation, in partnership with integrator HAV, includes JBL SRX906 line array loudspeakers deployed within the mosque’s four minarets, providing focused, long-throw coverage for the call to prayer, making Quba Mosque the only mosque in Saudi Arabia to feature line arrays in its minarets.
Inside the mosque and across surrounding areas, JBL CBT 70J Series column loudspeakers provide vertical coverage and balanced sound distribution, while additional JBL Control Series and AWC Series loudspeakers extend coverage to auxiliary and outdoor areas.
The system is supported by BSS EC-8BV wall controllers and BLU-series DSP processors for signal routing, equalisation, delay alignment and zoning, aimed at improving speech intelligibility for the Quran and khutbah across the site’s acoustics.
Crown XTi and Crown CDi DriveCore amplifiers power the system, providing high-headroom amplification with damping factor and thermal stability intended to support continuous use during peak prayer times.
The installation is designed to preserve the mosque’s spiritual atmosphere and architectural character while modernising its sound reinforcement for daily worship and large gatherings.
