Extron AVoIP drives adaptable classroom setup in Singapore

Manufacturer's NAV system deployed to convert three adjacent rooms into one reconfigurable teaching space at Curtin Singapore – the Singapore branch of Australia’s Curtin University

Extron has equipped Curtin Singapore, the Singapore campus of Australia’s Curtin University, with its NAV Pro AV Over IP technology across three neighbouring classrooms, transforming them into a flexible, divisible learning environment. The project was carried out by integrator AV‑Science Marketing to support the university’s hybrid‑learning ambitions and maximise space utility.

The setup includes NAV E 121 encoders and NAV SD 101 scaling decoders to provide low-latency, visually lossless 4K/60 4:4:4 delivery. The system is centrally managed by the NAVigator System Manager, while control is handled via Extron TLP Pro 1025T touch panels and an IPCP Pro 250 xi control processor.

On the audio side, sound is processed through a DMP 128 Plus digital signal processor and amplified by XPA U 1004 units, with SF 26CT ceiling speakers installed. The installation also incorporates DTP HDMI 4K extenders, MediaPort 200 scaling bridge, and PTZ cameras, making it well suited for hybrid teaching and conferencing.

Curtin Singapore reports the project was completed in around three months, with minimal disruption to ongoing classes. The flexible design means educators can quickly reconfigure the rooms depending on demand – from three separate sessions, to paired rooms, to one large merged space – without any loss in AV quality.

Bertrand Seah, general manager, AV‑Science Marketing, said: “Extron AV systems are very easy to use. From an integration standpoint, their architecture allowed us to solve what could’ve been a very complex routing problem. More importantly, instructors can walk into the space, tap a few buttons, and everything works.”
