CODA Audio’s compact HOPS (High Output Point Source) system has been installed at a new 100-seat auditorium beneath the courtyard of the Turin headquarters of Reply, an Italian IT consulting, systems integration and digital services company.
The system was designed to deliver high SPL and clarity across a range of event types while minimising visual impact on the room’s design. The auditorium forms part of the restoration of the former De Sonnaz barracks by ACPV Architects, and was designed to host conferences, training courses, TED-style talks and parties.
The system comprises three HOPS7-Pro units as the main L-C-R array, four HOPS5 units for stage monitoring, and four D5-Cube ultra-compact units as frontfills. Low frequencies are handled by a pair of U12 ultra-compact subwoofers, with two additional U15 subs available for events requiring more power. The system is driven by three CODA Audio LINUS6.4D Dante-enabled amplifiers for digital networking and control.
To preserve the room’s aesthetic, the main PA and stage monitoring components are located within a black slot in the venue’s false ceiling, while the stage frontfills retract into the structure when not in use. DSP is routed to the LINUS amplifiers via Dante, with CODA’s LINUS Q-SYS plug-in managing amplifier parameters and allowing real-time recall from the main operator console or installed touch panels as the room reconfigures through its motorised transformations.
The auditorium’s technology integration extends beyond audio, including a 17m LED wall that emerges automatically from a lateral slot, and PTZ cameras and teleprompters that rise from the floor in front of the presenter’s platform. Technology integrator Decima 1948 designed and installed the auditorium’s full multimedia ecosystem, with the system designed by Decima’s technical department alongside Marco Trame of Cavea Engineering, and fine-tuned by Decima’s CODA Audio specialist Massimo Cafaro.
