Gran David Producciones, one of Colombia’s largest rental companies, has upgraded its inventory to Martin Audio’s WPC Wavefront Precision Compact line array system, replacing a long-standing inventory of legacy Martin Audio WL8C cabinets and S218+ subwoofers.
The Popayán-based company invested in 20 WPC cabinets powered by five iKON IK42 amplifiers, following testing carried out in collaboration with Colombian distributor AVCOM and regional support from Proactive LATAM Technical Hub. The WPC is a three-way, bi-amp line array featuring 2 x 10in low-frequency drivers, 2 x 5in mid-range drivers and 4 x 1in high-frequency compression drivers, designed for medium-to-large scale applications.
The company says the new system has reduced rigging and setup times, simplified cabling and lowered power consumption compared with the previous configuration. Sonically, Gran David Producciones reports improvements in coverage, SPL and high-frequency definition. The system has already been deployed for events featuring artists including Yeison Jiménez, Grupo Niche and La 33.
