Martin Audio WPL line arrays arrive in Colombia

Bogotá-based rental house People Light becomes first company in the country to deploy UK manufacturer's large-format loudspeaker system

Martin Audio’s WPL large-format line array has made its Colombian debut, following an investment by Bogotá-based sound and light rental house People Light – the first company in the country to add the system to its inventory.

Established in 2007, People Light has grown into one of the country’s largest production companies. The investment was driven by a desire to meet the technical riders of major international festivals and tours, and followed a series of field tests and demonstrations arranged through Martin Audio’s Latin American distributor AVCOM, supported in the region by Proactive LATAM.

As the flagship of the Martin Audio Wavefront Precision series, the WPL is a three-way, bi-amped system featuring dual 12in LF drivers, designed to deliver stadium-level output with pattern control enhanced by the company’s scalable resolution optimisation. People Light’s system comprises 24 WPL line array elements, 12 SXH218 dual 18in high-power subwoofers, and iKON iK42 multi-channel amplifiers.

Camilo Aranguren, CEO of AVCOM, said: “With People Light’s acquisition, major events and festivals in Colombia will now have access to a system designed to deliver power, uniform coverage, and absolute control in large-scale productions.”

The WPL rig has already been deployed for artists including Yeisson Jiménez, Luis Alfonso, and Hebert Vargas, and is set to make its debut at Bogotá’s El Campín stadium later this month.

Alejandro Puentes, CEO of People Light, added: “This is an important step in our history, positioning us as one of the few companies in the region with this level of large-format technology.”
