SGM’s all-weather LED takes on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge [VIDEO]

It seems the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which has been sweeping social media far and wide, isn’t limit to human participants after Danish lighting manufacturer SGM selected its IP65-rated G-Spot to undergo the ‘soak test’ – all in aid of charity.

Before tipping the ice cold bucket of water over the device, SGM CEO Peter Johansen nominated competitors Martin Professional, Clay Paky and Vari-Lite to take on the challenge – each of which has 72 hours to accept.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity that generally involves dumping a bucket of ice water on someone’s head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research. It immediately went viral on social media during July-August 2014.

“If people can do it, so can products,” said SGM CEO Peter Johansen, who was soaked immediately after the fixture (he is not IP65-rated). “After all, these are ‘intelligent’ lights, so let’s see how brave our competitors are in putting them forward.”
