Updated: Polycom unveils new “affordable” next generation’ business IP phones for “any” business

Company’s updated VVX Series Business SIP Phones provide robust features, along with the new cloud-based tool for service providers to deploy and maintain phones

Polycom, a part of wireless headphone firm Plantronics, has today (August 29) announced the availability of its updated line of cloud compatible VVX Series Business IP Phones

Hailed as providing a breakthrough in the balance between affordability and features, the new VVX x50 portfolio, includes four new models; VVX 150 (£66), VVX 250 (£133), VVX 350 (£177), and the VVX 450 (£207).

Polycom, acquired by Plantronics for $2 billion in July this year (2018), claim each of the next-generation desktop phones provide a more robust feature set than comparable models from other providers.

However, despite affordability being a key driver in its promotion, the firm has yet to reveal details on pricing, despite our requests.

  • High audio quality which enables business conversations to remain free from extraneous noises, echoes, and distractions as well as a sleek, modern design
  • Meet the budget and communication needs of any business while being simple to administer and upgrade throughout entire lifecycle
  • Can integrate with over 60 call control platforms worldwide

These four models feature colour LCD, modern design, easy deployment options, and USB and Gig-E ports. The VVX x50 Series audio quality comes from Polycom HD Voice and Polycom Acoustic Fence that enable business conversations to remain free from extraneous noises, echoes and distractions.

Polycom said the phones meet the budget and communication needs of any business while being simple to administer and upgrade throughout their entire lifecycle. All four phones support the industry’s broadest set of Open SIP software features and integrate with over 60 call control platforms worldwide. The portfolio of phones is available now for service providers to begin testing and qualifying.

Cloud service

In addition to the new VVX phone series, Polycom Device Management Service for Service Providers (PDMS-SP) is now available. This cloud service streamlines and simplifies provisioning, management and troubleshooting for service providers by integrating extensive capabilities into their own processes and dashboards.

“Based on feedback from our service provider partners and end customers, Polycom developed the new VVX x50 Series with quality, value, and management in mind,” said Tarun Loomba, executive vice president, product and solutions management at Plantronics. “The new design delivers a great customer experience with premier audio quality at the right price for partners and customers. By using the same unified communications (UC) software as in previous VVX phones, Service Providers, like 8×8 and TVF, have a simpler and shorter certification process to get to market, and we are seeing this already.”
