Midwich’s LG world firsts – laser TV and ultra-short throw laser projector

Two new 'world-first' laser/LED projection solutions from LG – a 100in laser-projection TV and an ultra-short throw laser projector – are now available exclusively in the UK from the Midwich Group.

Two new ‘world-first’ laser/LED projection solutions from LG – a 100in laser-projection TV and an ultra-short throw laser projector – are now available exclusively in the UK from the Midwich Group.

Previewed at CES in January, Hecto is a 100in ‘laser TV’ whose image comes from an ultra-short throw laser projector just 22cm from the display. Designed for both the home cinema enthusiast and the corporate or higher education user, the 1080p Hecto is said to give a stunning picture even in bright daylight. According to Midwich, it will trade at a fifth of the price of the nearest equivalent 100in large format display.

Midwich is also distributing the world’s first ultra-short throw solid-state laser projector. The LG SA560 offers 2800 lumens of brightness and a minimum of 20,000 hours’ life. It can project onto an 80in screen from a distance of 52cm. Connectivity and multimedia features include Intel WiDi and LAN, HDMI, many standard ports and two built-in 7W speakers. The projector is targeted at users in education and the corporate world, especially training rooms.

The SA560 and the Hecto, are available exclusively in the UK from any of the Midwich Group of companies – including Midwich, OwlVisual, SquareOne and InvisionUK.

Stuart Mizon, business manager at the Midwich Group, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing these world firsts to the UK market. Such is the quality of the images provided by this new technology that we expect these products to be seen in a wide range of verticals. Clearly, the 100in capability of the Hecto brings a quality, cost-effective option to home cinema enthusiasts, but it is equally suited to high end corporate and retail applications. The SA560 is a game changer in education, bringing solid state technology into the classroom with the benefits that come with ultra-short-throw.”

Both products will be on display at Technology Exposed, the Midwich’s Group’s flagship event at Ascot Racecourse on 18-19 September. Free registration is at www.technology-exposed.com/register.
