Display sales rebound in pro AV channel, research says

PMA Research found North American dealer unit sales of 32in-plus flat panels up 16 per cent on August, while distributor sales of all-in-one dvLED displays rose 45 per cent year on year.

PMA Research, a market information firm covering large displays, has published its September sell-through tracking reports on flat panel displays of 32in and larger. The reports cover sales by leading North American pro AV dealers and AV/IT distributors serving commercial markets, and show gains in both channels.

Among pro AV dealers, unit sales rose 16 per cent on August, following a pronounced dip that month, and were up 35 per cent year on year. Falling prices helped drive demand, so September revenues did not keep pace with units. Year to date, dealer unit volumes have risen 11 per cent over the first three quarters of 2026.

The best-selling model in the pro AV channel in September was a 50in consumer TV. PMA says this reflects a continued push by dealers into light commercial and residential markets to support their business.

In the distribution channel, unit sales had been levelling off in recent months but rose in September. Large-format panel units and revenues both grew by single digits on August. Consumer display sales recovered, with 65in now the most popular size, which PMA says was likely helped by lower average prices and points to growing interest in resimercial markets. Desktop monitors of 32in and larger regained ground, with sell-through volumes up 12 per cent both month on month and year on year.

For professional displays specifically, distributor unit sales and revenues were both up by single digits month on month. All-in-one dvLED displays were a bright spot, with unit sales up 45 per cent on a year earlier.

PMA’s monthly Flat Panel Channel Tracking reports cover unit sales and trends for large-format displays sold by leading US AV/IT distributors and pro AV dealers and systems integrators. PMA Research became an Apogee Insight company in 2026.
