Barco has officially opened its redesigned Experience Centre at the company’s global headquarters in Kortrijk. The facility, which first opened in 2016, has undergone its third major transformation – designed to highlight Barco’s evolving focus on software, connectivity and artificial intelligence alongside its core visualisation technology.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday October 24, led by An Steegen, Barco’s chief executive officer, and Ruth Vandenberghe, mayor of Kortrijk. Investors, analysts and members of the financial press were given an early look at the new space during Barco’s Capital Markets Day the previous day.
The redesigned centre includes a series of themed demonstration zones or “pods”, each showcasing specific application areas.
These include a Discovery pod, featuring Barco’s ENCORE3 screen management system, Infinipix LED processor and Nexxis Compute surgical imaging solution; a Healthcare pod demonstrating visualisation and AI-assisted workflows; and an Enterprise pod highlighting control room software and ClickShare hybrid meeting solutions.
Other areas include a Residential pod that displays Barco’s Heimdall 4K laser projector, an Immersive Experiences pod powered by 14 laser projectors, and a Theatre showcasing the company’s HDR by Barco cinema technology featuring Lightsteering.
An Steegen, chief executive officer at Barco, said: “The renewed Experience Centre represents how Barco is evolving from a hardware-centric company into one that places software and AI at the heart of our solutions. It’s not just a showcase, but a platform for collaboration and innovation with our partners and customers.”
The Experience Centre forms part of Barco’s global network of more than 15 facilities designed to demonstrate the company’s technologies in visualisation, collaboration and networking. The company says the Kortrijk site will continue to serve as a hub for customer engagement, product testing and training.
