Absen LED technology is being utilised for a new 9,266sqft transparent display at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, which the Phoenix Suns and Mercury owners say will be the largest of its kind at an NBA/WNBA arena. The display is scheduled to be completed this autumn.
Measuring 226 x 41ft, the display will span the venue’s exterior plaza entrance. Its transparent mesh LED is positioned behind the glass paneling, with the design intended to allow natural light into the pavilion while retaining views of downtown Phoenix.
The system will feature more than 17m pixels and a 60 frames-per-second refresh rate. Its side sections can operate independently or combine with the central display to create a single continuous visual canvas.
OneRevel designed and engineered the display and supported its systems integration and installation, while Absen supplied the LED technology.
Mat Ishbia, chairman and CEO, Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, said: “We want everyone who visits Mortgage Matchup Center to have a memorable experience, and that starts the moment they arrive.”
The display is designed to support outdoor watch parties, highlights, entertainment content and other events, with the Suns and Mercury saying it will provide a year-round visual platform at the arena’s entrance.
