Christie RGB pure laser cinema projectors with VDR technology are to be installed across 25 premium large-format auditoriums at Marcus Theatres, the fourth-largest cinema circuit in the US, replacing ageing lamp-based projectors.
The rollout covers 20 UltraScreen and five SuperScreen DLX auditoriums, and will be delivered by CES Plus, which will handle project design, equipment procurement, installation, calibration and ongoing remote service.
The projectors are rated for more than 50,000 hours of DCI-specified on-screen brightness with minimal recalibration, intended to support long-term operational reliability across the circuit.
Dr Don Shaw, executive director of cinema at Christie, said: “Marcus Theatres will be the first exhibitor to implement a large-scale rollout of Christie VDR technology in their PLF auditoriums for ultra-high-contrast images, far exceeding industry standards, and including the capability for more than double the typical 3D brightness normally seen in cinemas around the world. By selecting Christie RGB pure laser projectors, Marcus Theatres is investing in a presentation technology that enhances colour, contrast, and brightness in ways that audiences can clearly see and appreciate.”
