Christie is continuing its support of the BFI London Film Festival for a sixth consecutive year, supplying a CP4455-RGB pure laser cinema projector for premieres and gala screenings at London’s Royal Festival Hall. The 2,700-seat venue is hosting presentations during the festival’s 70th edition, which is running from October 7 to 18.

The CP4455-RGB uses Christie’s RealLaser illumination technology and CineLife+ electronics to deliver 4K images. The RGB laser projection system is being used to present films to audiences at the festival’s major screenings, including events attended by filmmaking teams.
Dominic Simmons, head of cinema technology at the BFI, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Christie for the 6th year in a row. Every presentation has been fantastic. Each time Christie has given us incremental improvements in picture quality. We know that all the Gala films will really pop.”
Simmons said the projector’s onboard calibration and blending tools had helped streamline setup and ensure consistent presentation. “Installing the projector has become a very smooth operation and the onboard calibration and blending tools ensure that we can get every film looking its best,” he added. The BFI said the reliability of presentation was particularly important at screenings attended by large audiences and film crews.
This year’s festival features nine world premieres, 10 international premieres and 14 European premieres. Simon Stone’s Elsinor opened the event, while Jesse Eisenberg’s The Debut is scheduled to close it. The London Film Festival began in 1957, following an initiative conceived by film critic Dilys Powell.
