Norxe expands into direct-view LED

The Norwegian projection specialist is extending its display technology portfolio with its first fine-pitch LED platform, targeting military and flight simulation, training and immersive attractions

Norxe has previewed its first direct-view LED display platform, expanding from specialist projection manufacturing into fine-pitch dvLED systems for simulation, training and immersive visitor attractions.

Norxe HQ, Norway

Developed and manufactured in Fredrikstad, Norway, the hardware will be offered in pixel pitches of 0.7mm, 0.9mm, 1.2mm and 1.5mm. Built for motion-critical applications, the platform supports frame rates up to 240Hz with low latency, and features redundant power and video architecture alongside SMPTE ST 2110 IP video transport over standard network infrastructure to minimise local cabling.

For military and flight simulation, the TAA-compliant platform incorporates dedicated infrared diodes to support Night Vision Goggle (NVG) training. Precise low-end dimming control enables continuous time-of-day simulation across daylight, dusk, night and dawn environments, providing dark ride designers and simulator integrators with a high-contrast alternative to projection in confined spaces.

Rather than developing a standalone display, the Norwegian manufacturer has integrated the dvLED platform into its proprietary Unify electronics and API architecture. System planning, physical cabinet layout, cabling calculations and controller configurations will be managed before site deployment via the Unify Display Manager software suite.

Norxe will demonstrate prototype systems in Orlando, Florida, during IAAPA Expo 2026 and I/ITSEC 2026, inviting channel partners and simulation integrators to evaluate the technology before commercial release. Alongside the LED preview, the company will demonstrate its P55 and P60 simulation projectors running at 240Hz across multi-channel, dome and spherical-screen configurations.

Espen Olsen, vice president of global sales at Norxe, said: “Projection remains a major part of what we do, but it is the performance of the display that ultimately matters to the customer. Moving into direct view LED allows us to apply our experience in high frame rates, low latency, night vision, color management and system reliability to another display technology.”
