Visionary Solutions, an AVoIP and IPTV technology specialist based in Santa Barbara, California, has appointed Chris Floyd as design and support engineer. Floyd has 15 years’ experience in AV/IT engineering, system design, programming, commissioning and technical support, across both systems integration and end-user operations.
Most recently, Floyd was an AV systems engineer and control systems programmer at TEKsystems, where he programmed Crestron, Q-SYS and Extron systems, configured Biamp Tesira DSP and Dante audio networks, and commissioned divisible-room and multiroom installations. He worked with engineers, integrators, vendors and client IT teams on issues involving network switching, multicast, control systems and AV transport.
Floyd previously worked at AVI-SPL, designing, programming, commissioning and supporting enterprise audiovisual and collaboration systems, including standardised control and user interface solutions and integrated conferencing. Earlier in his career, he spent more than 12 years at UC Davis Health, supporting boardrooms, medical education facilities, lecture halls and conference environments. He also served in the US Air Force, working on electronic warfare systems.
Scott Freshman, chief operating officer at Visionary, said: “Chris brings experience with the technical challenges our integrators and end users face throughout the life of an AV system. He understands how design decisions affect installation, commissioning and day-to-day support, and he has worked through problems that involve control, audio, video and the network. Chris’ perspective is valuable to our engineering and support team as we help customers integrate Visionary technology into their systems. We’re pleased to welcome him to the team.”
Floyd added: “I’ve worked with Visionary’s technology from both the integrator and end-user sides, so I’m excited to now be part of the team behind it. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to Visionary and contributing to what the team is building.”
