Tripleplay to launch 4K set top box with HEVC support

ISE is seeing the launch of a low cost, solid state set top box for delivering 4K digital signage and IPTV. Working with long-term technology hardware partner Amino, Tripleplay claims it has developed a truly scalable, flexible, complete and cost effective 4K digital media platform.

The new Amino 4K STB will allow Tripleplay to offer HEVC content delivery, a protocol which, the company says, makes delivery of UHD media content up to 60% more efficient, ensuring network capacity is not unduly impacted.

Tripleplay is also showcasing several newly released solutions at ISE, including the Mobile Media App (MMA), Media Video Player (MVP) and the low latency Tripleplay HD Encoder, as well as efficiency improvements to its Digital Media Platform.

With the release of the B3.0 software platform, additional features have been added to Tripleplay’s digital signage and IPTV streaming solution.

These include QuickDrop, a new media upload tool to allow the instant creation of video and music playlists and simpler management of digital signage content. There’s also authenticated webpage support for digital signage deployments, support for Citrix video delivery with the MVP, and a new, simple visual editor for digital signage content creation.
