The award-winning South Access Welcome Screen at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via will showcase artworks from three celebrated digital artists during ISE 2025. One will be a preview of a piece to be shown at the Llum light arts festival in Barcelona immediately after ISE.
At 18:30 on Thursday 6 February, Alice Labourel, a French art director and artist known for her innovative fusion of visual storytelling and new technologies, will showcase her extraordinary piece, ‘A Tiny Bead of Pure Life’ on the 193m2 South Access LED screen. With her background in architecture and ballet, Labourel masterfully blends drawing, 3D modelling, mythology and nature to create works that bridge the physical and virtual worlds.
‘A Tiny Bead of Pure Life’ is a mesmerising 15-minute animated journey through surreal, abstract landscapes inspired by nature. It will also be shown at Llum BCN 25, the light arts festival that takes place in Barcelona’s Poblenou district on the evenings of Friday 7 to Sunday 9 February.
Mike Blackman, Managing Director of ISE, commented, “I am especially excited to welcome Alice Labourel and her extraordinary artwork to ISE 2025. This partnership epitomises the synergy between art and technology, offering a stage for visionary creators to inspire and captivate, while deepening the bond between ISE and Barcelona’s vibrant cultural scene.”
On Tuesday 4 February, also at 18:30, Italian digital artist Quayola, who will be giving the ISE 2025 Creative Keynote the following day, will present his artwork ‘Promenade’. This juxtaposes laser scans of a forest with drone footage of the same terrain. Quayola is intrigued by the relationship between the natural world and the digital world, and this piece is part of his ongoing explorations observing nature through machines.
Quayola will also be showing a new work. ‘Arborescent’, on the façade of Casa Batllo, one of Antonio Gaudi’s most famous buildings in Barcelona, on the evenings of 1 and 2 February.
Returning to the Fira South Access Welcome Screen, this trio of powerful performances is completed by Dutch digital artist Jeroen van der Most, who returns to ISE after being a Keynote speaker last year. His performance will take place on the Wednesday evening.
