SNA Displays creates L-shaped LED wall for school studio

Visual infrastructure enhances media production and live coverage capabilities for the student team at Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia

SNA Displays has partnered with AV integrator FORTÉ to deliver an L-shaped LED video wall for a new TV broadcast facility at the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia. Opened inside the Blake Center, the media space brings together arts, engineering, and digital storytelling under one roof. FORTÉ says the centrepiece installation supports student broadcasts, podcasts, documentaries, theatrical productions, and classroom presentations for the school’s WCAT broadcast team.

The BRILLIANT Interior dvLED video wall measures 8ft 11in tall by 27ft 8in wide with a 9ft 10in side and a 17ft 9in side that join seamlessly in the corner of the room. Featuring a 1.8mm pixel pitch, the display processes more than 6.4m pixels (1,440 x 4,480) and is designed to deliver high-resolution visuals for live sports analysis and news broadcasts. The screen is complemented by a motorised green screen for flexible production scenarios.

Since its inception in 2010, Westminster’s WCAT programme has evolved from a small extracurricular club into an operation producing live sports, news, concerts, and special events. The team has earned eight awards and seven honourable mentions from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast division, as well as a National Student Production Award in 2017.

Richard Hill, sales director, said: “It’s incredible to see LED video technology help students develop valuable skills while cultivating a passion for media.”

He added: “Westminster students are producing professional-quality shows, and now they have a level of technology that will help them take those skills to the next level.”
