SNA Displays has supplied the LED video system for a new digital sign structure at The Comedy Store on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, a landmark comedy venue in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The project was led by Orange Barrel Media (OBM), an out-of-home advertising company, in partnership with design firm RIOS, sign manufacturer YESCO and SNA Displays, with the aim of creating a new visual landmark that complements the venue’s architectural character.
The sign centres on a double-sided EMPIRE Exterior LED video system arranged in a V-shape and framed by illuminated decorative “scroll” elements inspired by classic marquee design. Each screen measures 30ft tall by 16ft 3in wide (1,140 x 620 pixels) with an 8mm pixel pitch. SNA Displays also provided on-site installation management and technical support throughout the project.
Pete Simon, director of out-of-home sales at SNA Displays, said: “After a long relationship with YESCO and Orange Barrel Media, we’re delighted to be working with both again to improve such an iconic Hollywood staple.”
The approximately 70ft-tall structure, designed by RIOS and developed under OBM’s direction, also incorporates internally illuminated channel lettering, custom perforated metal cladding and embossed metal detailing.
Jeff Young, executive vice president of YESCO, added: “The Comedy Store has long been a part of the visual and cultural fabric of the Sunset Strip, so we felt a true sense of responsibility to create something that felt both authentic and visually captivating.”
