Kramer has supplied AVoIP, cloud management and control technologies for a multi-campus AV standardisation project at Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina in Colombia. The university’s RAUDA initiative is designed to centralise AV management across its campuses in Bogotá, Pereira and Valledupar, creating a unified infrastructure for classrooms, meeting spaces, auditoriums and digital signage.
The university, which supports both in-person and hybrid learning, had previously operated a mix of independently managed AV systems across its sites. According to Kramer, this made it more difficult to maintain consistent user experiences and monitor system performance across its estate.
Working with system integrator Merge, the university implemented the first phase of the RAUDA project by deploying a centralised AVoIP architecture linking classrooms, auditoriums, meeting spaces and digital signage. The infrastructure allows AV content to be distributed over the network while enabling systems to be monitored and managed from a single platform.
The deployment includes Kramer KDS-EN7 encoders and KDS-DEC7 decoders for AV distribution, VIA GO 3 wireless presentation devices, KC Virtual Brain 5 and Panta Rhei for management and control, and VSM on Cloud for cloud-based monitoring. The system also incorporates Netgear M4250 network switches and TP-583TXR transmission units.
According to the company, the centralised platform provides greater visibility of AV performance across the university’s campuses, helping technical teams diagnose faults remotely and reduce the need for on-site intervention. The infrastructure also supports centralised management of digital signage content across the university.
César Andrés Rodríguez Ángel, national director of technological innovation at Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina, said: “Kramer gave us the ability to centralise and simplify AV management across campuses while delivering a more reliable and consistent experience for users.”
Kramer says the first phase of the RAUDA initiative provides a foundation for future expansion as the university continues to develop its digital learning environments. The project reflects a wider trend towards centrally managed AVoIP infrastructures in higher education, where institutions are looking to simplify AV operations while supporting hybrid teaching and collaboration.
