A networked Genelec Smart IP loudspeaker system has been installed across Pitch, an indoor hospitality and crazy golf venue operating over two levels in Oberhausen, Germany.
Built within a converted 760sqm florist warehouse, the attraction features an 18-hole crazy golf course on the ground floor with a bar and darts lounge situated on the upper mezzanine. Systems integrator Mike Tec Eventtechnik was appointed to design an audio infrastructure capable of switching between subtle daytime background audio and dynamic sound reinforcement for evening DJ performances.
The main playing arena is covered by seven suspended Genelec 4436A pendant loudspeakers, selected for their wide-dispersion characteristics across the open-plan hall. Low-frequency extension is supplied by three flown 3440A Smart IP subwoofers, designed to increase system SPL headroom and maintain clarity during higher-output evening sessions.
On the upper floor, eight Genelec 4430A two-way active enclosures are wall-mounted throughout the entrance, bar and darts lounge. The enclosures provide tonal continuity across both levels while supplying dedicated output across the social and dining spaces.
The installation operates over a single CAT-cable PoE+ architecture, routing uncompressed audio, power and system management to each active enclosure without external power supplies or separate amplifier racks. German distributor Audio Pro supported the hardware specification and network design alongside Mike Tec.
Mike Terbeck, managing director at Mike Tec Eventtechnik, said: “With Smart IP, amplification is built into each loudspeaker and power is delivered over the network, which makes installation, maintenance and system expansion much more straightforward. We also gained a high degree of flexibility for individual controls.”
