Barco to complete laser rollout at major German cinema chain

Four-year agreement will see more than 70 Barco Series 4 laser projectors installed across 11 theatres operated by Kinopolis, one of the country's largest cinema groups

Barco and Kinopolis, one of Germany’s largest cinema groups, have signed a four-year agreement to complete a 100 percent laser projection rollout across Kinopolis’s mainstream screens. Building on a partnership established in 2022, the deal includes the installation of more than 70 Barco Series 4 (2K and 4K) laser projectors across 11 theatre locations.

The announcement comes as Kinopolis is being honoured at CineEurope with the UNIC/Coca-Cola Retail Award for hospitality-led cinema, for its newly opened cinema at Bad Homburg, as well as the ICTA Best New Build Cinema award for its Hamburg HafenCity venue.

The Barco Series 4 laser projection range is designed to deliver high image brightness, contrast, colour and clarity, with consistent light output intended to ensure precision and detail across every frame.

Kinopolis operates several of Germany’s flagship theatres, including Munich’s Mathäser Filmpalast and Hamburg’s HafenCity venue.
