As Bradford celebrates its year as UK City of Culture 2025, venue transformation specialist and screen manufacturer ADI has completed the digital transformation of the city’s Darley Street Market. Working closely with Bradford Council, ADI deployed a package of bespoke LED, LCD and interactive touchscreen displays, all integrated via a centralised content management system, to create an immersive, multi-zone media network.
Darley Street Market has replaced the city’s historic Kirkgate and Oastler markets, both of which closed on June 28. The new market’s official launch came on July 10, followed by a vibrant weekend of live entertainment and demonstrations.
ADI manufactured and installed a 28sqm outdoor MT Series LED screen in the courtyard at Darley Street. Using a 6mm pixel pitch, it is designed for events, advertising, public information and entertainment. ADI has also installed six indoor entertainment screens, which are situated across the venue to broadcast live entertainment and other content.
The set-up includes a 110in dual-screen at the performance stage. And there are five high-brightness ADI digital poster screens, which are positioned to share venue updates and promote trader-specific content.
Meanwhile, bespoke interactive touchscreen totems with wayfinding maps and QR functionality, are designed to improve accessibility and visitor flow. The integrated audio systems use loudspeakers for both indoor and outdoor zones. Indoor and outdoor cameras enable remotely operated live video content to be routed to any of the venue’s 16 screens.
According to ADI, the installation, which spans indoor and outdoor areas over three floors, brings new opportunities for entertainment, promotion, live content and community engagement – creating a connected experience for traders and the public alike.
Colin Wolstenholme, markets manager at Bradford Council, said: “We engaged ADI at the very start of the project with the goal of enhancing the customer experience within the market. ADI helped us refine our specifications and offered valuable consultancy on how to maximise our use of the system. Given this is a long-term, 10-year relationship, it was vital that the solution included not just the screen hardware, but also the software to manage it and long-term support. ADI could deliver all of that – and that was key for the council.”
Mark Burke, client engagement manager at ADI, added: “This was about more than installing screens – it was about creating a flexible platform for community, creativity and commerce. We’re proud to have supported Bradford’s vision for a dynamic, modern marketplace with a joined-up experience across all zones.”
