A.C. Special Projects on the crest of a ‘Wave’

The sculpture forms an important part of a multi-million pound makeover of Blackpool’s St John’s and Cedar squares. It features an illuminated colour-changing pattern in cast resin, reflecting the elegant stained glass windows in St John’s Church and making an explicit connection with Blackpool’s famous Illuminations.

The LED lighting system specified and supplied by A.C. Special Projects (ACSP) is based around the Philips ColorGraze Powercore, an IP66 low-maintenance fixture able to withstand the challenging weather conditions and requiring only minimal servicing once the statue had been fixed into position. The company also provided Anolis ArcSource LED fixtures to light up five clear resin giant pebbles surrounding the Wave in various different colours.

Peter Keiderling, managing director of A.C. Special Projects, told II: “ACSP were delighted to specify Philips LED products for this unique installation where reliability and durability were absolutely key to the project.”
