PLASA Focus returns to Glasgow

Registration is now open for PLASA Focus Glasgow, which returns to the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) on 17-18 January. The show will host leading international brands, networking events and a programme of seminars and workshops.

Visitors will have access to over 80 pro audio, lighting, AV, rigging and staging brands – including Avolites, Chauvet, Bose, ETC, Funktion-One and Robe – with representatives on hand to discuss and showcase the latest releases.

The programme includes: lighting designer duo Simon Hayes and Kate Bonney who will talk about their work on The Enchanted Forest, Scotland’s largest outdoor light and sound show. The team will discuss their experience of working in the challenging environment, what equipment helped them realise their vision and lessons they’ve learnt for lighting other outdoor events.

Lighting professionals can also get hands-on training courtesy of ChamSys. Over two days, attendees can learn the basics of MagicQ, MagicVis Visualisation, MagicHD media player, and find out more about the latest MagicQ software.

For audio professionals, Oran Burns of d&b audiotechnik will offer a fresh voice on the much-debated topic of frequency response for live sound systems. He will consider hearing sensitivity, creative preferences, room acoustics and cultural trends, and will ask the sound engineers in the audience: “are you listening?”

The AV User Group returns to PLASA Focus Glasgow to host an annual regional meeting for both existing and new members joining for the first time. After the meeting, there will be a networking event with drinks and catering, both are free of charge for members.

Looking towards the event, Chris Toulmin, commercial director at PLASA commented: “Scotland is renowned for its famed festivals, iconic venues and rich cultural heritage, and we are extremely proud to host an event which supports this incredibly rich sector in Scotland. We are looking forward to another successful year of providing Scotland with the perfect stage for networking, training and discovering.”
