D-Tools, Inc. and Portal.io have merged, combining the two most widely used software platforms serving residential and commercial integration, audio/video and security professionals. The combined company will continue to offer three products – Portal.io, D-Tools Cloud and D-Tools System Integrator (SI) – with existing customers remaining on their current platform and terms, and no plans to end-of-life any product.
G Paul Hess continues as CEO, with Portal.io founder Kirk Chisholm joining as chief product officer and Josh Willits continuing to lead the Portal.io business unit.
The merger brings together D-Tools’ catalog of manufacturer and distributor product data with Portal.io’s own managed catalogue, aimed at improving pricing accuracy and specification workflows across the combined portfolio. Both companies say they intend to expand AI capability across their platforms, building on Portal.io’s existing AI proposal builder and D-Tools’ prior AI investment.

Kirk Chisholm, founder of Portal.io and chief product officer at D-Tools, added: “We have known and worked with D-Tools for more than a decade, and what has always been clear is how aligned we are on what integrators actually need. Putting our two teams together is a real chance to shape where this industry goes and to build what dealers have always wanted.” Both companies will exhibit at CEDIA Expo 2026 in Denver this September.
