Martin Professional goes outdoors

First-time ISE exhibitor Martin Professional was delighted with the show, and in particular with the high level of interest in the company’s new EC series LED capability.

“The response has been fantastic,” said technology manager Mats Karlsson (pictured). “The LC series has been great for us since we introduced it to complement our traditional lighting business three years ago, and we’ve sold over 8,000sqm of it. There’s 280sqm of it on top of the BT Tower in London – which surprised a lot of people – counting down to the 2012 Olympics. The EC series, though, gives us a new level of quality – think of it as a BMW, where the LC series is our Mondeo.”

Martin previewed the EC series at ISE, with official launch scheduled for next month and shipments due in April.

According to Karlsson, Martin saw the increasing convergence of lighting and video in the show market, and it was this that encouraged it to extend its product range. “We wanted a slice of that video market,” he said, “although lighting is still our bread and butter business.”

The new EC series has a 20mm pixel pitch, delivers 4,000 NITS of brightness, is IP65-rated for external deployment and has Class B EMC certification. Karlsson noted that, as with the LC series, colour and brightness can be calibrated for each individual pixel. “That’s vital,” he said, “for a customer who wants more of what he bought two years ago, and needs it to match exactly. Beyond that, everything is serviceable and replaceable, and we guarantee availability of parts for a minimum of five years, as we do with our lighting products.”
