The systems integrator says that it is renewing its direction as it announces the appointment of John Smith (pictured) to the board. The company – which has offices in the UK and Bahrain – has also created a new IP division, to be headed by Andrew Smith, as part of the changes.
A previous senior employee of Sony, OKI Systems and Logica, John Smith will focus on converged market sectors. Acknowledging growing customer demand for “tailored” installations, he said that as a leading systems integrator IVC is well-placed to deliver “best-of-breed solutions” – many of which now entail an IP delivery component.
The new IP division will focus on “customers looking to save costs”, bringing together IT, telephony and AV on one converged IP network.
Elaborating upon this new aspect of the operation, Smith told IE: “IVC’s innovative use of fibre technology is key in this respect. Widely available, fibre can reduce power costs, compared with traditional copper cable, resulting in significant environmental benefits as well as higher bandwidth capabilities. Our new IP division will now supply tailored and fully installed solutions to customers looking to benefit from these recent advances in technology.”
