Russound to debut SMZ8 Controller Amplifier at ISE

The SMZ8, which features a built-in high-res audio streamer with support for both AirPlay and Google Cast, will be showcased at booth 2.L500, alongside the SMZ16 pre-amplifier

Russound, a leader in multiroom audio, will debut its SMZ8 8-source/8-zone controller amplifier with built-in streamer and SMZ16-PRE 16×16 matrix pre-amplifier with streamer at booth 2.L500, at ISE 2025. The company will also continue to showcase the Cinema Bar 3.0 and D-Series Multichannel Digital Amplifiers.

Now shipping, Russound’s SMZ8 Controller Amplifier features a built-in high-res audio streamer with support for both AirPlay and Google Cast. It delivers 50 watts per channel, and is scalable up to 48 zones, making it suitable for larger installations. It boasts 50W per channel amplification and advanced DSP features like Russound speaker presets and a seven-band graphic EQ.

Also now available and being shown for the first time at ISE is the SMZ16-PRE 16×16 matrix pre-amplifier with a built-in high-res audio stream. It features 16 stereo inputs, which can be used in any combination of up to 16 analogue, six digital optical, or four digital coax inputs. Though 16×16, the SMZ16-PRE is expandable up to 16×48 for added flexibility.

Both the SMZ8 and the SMZ16-PRE boast an HDMI input (ARC) for connecting to a TV or video source with low latency synchronisation to avoid lip-sync issues and integrated DSP with a seven-band graphical EQ with built-in presets for Russound speakers. Both are controllable with Russound’s XTS7 wall-mounted color touchscreen, IPK-1 single-gang IP keypad, or the Russound app.

Also being shown for the first time at ISE 2025 will be Russound Cinema Bar 3.0, a passive soundbar specifically designed for wall-mounted flat panels 65in and larger, featuring 100 watts MS power handling per channel. The soundbar is equipped with three 4in full-range drivers, three 1-inch tweeters, and three 4in passive radiators, providing robust and room-filling audio with enhanced bass response.

Another highlight at the Russound booth will be the D-Series amps. The D-Series are designed around a key goal: reducing the size of the amplifiers while boosting their feature set. The amp series uses an advanced digital design that results in smaller chassis sizes than in any previous generation of Russound amplifiers while delivering powerful audio. The 16-channel D1675 is 2RU high and delivers 75 watts per channel. Other models include the eight-channel D890 and the 12-channel D1290 (now available), both 1RU in height.
