Opinion: Why navigating ISE will be easier in Barcelona

Cindy Davis, brand and content director at AV Technology, on the new era of ISE

The only thing I will miss about Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Amsterdam is Amsterdam. The number of hours lost navigating the rabbit warren of the RAI convention centre are happily in my rearview mirror.

In preparation for ISE 2022, I’ve begun a customised map to highlight some booth appointments (more in the works). I am relieved to see that the Fira de Barcelona, Gran Vía Venue is a modern complex with eight halls, connected by a walkway that channels visitors, as the site states, “with some of the most advanced technical and logistical features.” My time will now be focused on meeting with exhibitors and learning about new innovations and attending summits.

When ISE 2022 opens its doors in Barcelona on February 1, the world will have been living with the realities of a pandemic for 23 months. Pre-2020, the average time to bring a new product to market was 18 months, and product evolution and innovation were almost predictable. The AV/IT industry proved to be nimble, launching new solutions in under six months in categories not on a product roadmap. Expect to see an unprecedented number of new products to serve the world of hybrid environments on the ISE show floor.

In-depth summits offered during ISE 2022 laser-focus on the important topics in the era of the new—everything. This year’s themes tell it all:

Smart Workplace Summit theme is “Innovations Re-shaping the Workplace.”

Digital Learning Summit theme is “Build Back Hybrid.”

Digital Signage Summit theme is “The New Agenda.”

Live Events Summit theme is “The New World of Touring Audio.”

Smart Building Conference theme is “Smart, Safe, Sustainable Building Technologies.”

Control Rooms Summit theme is “Designing a New Critical Control Room.”
