Crestron appoints new EMEA, building controls managers

Crestron's lighting and building controls business has a new manager, as does its EMEA residential and commercial business.

Crestron has made two new appointments.

In the first, Simon Clarke has been hired as marketing manager for the EMEA region, where he will be responsible for all aspects of Crestron’s commercial and residential activity.

Clarke has been working for over 30 years on brand plans and high-level campaigns at domestic, European and EMEA level, including extensive sponsorship deals and subsequent branding and lead generation for Avaya across both the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups.

“Joining Crestron is a really exciting prospect for me, I’m fully aware of its prowess in the automation world and working with such a premium and prominent brand will be a privilege,” said Clarke (pictured). “I believe the combination of my marketing experience and Crestron’s ambition for continued growth will be a winning partnership.”

“When you look at the diversity of attendees at shows such as ISE and with last year’s inaugural InfoComm MEA, it is clear to see a thriving market scene across EMEA,” said Robin van Meeuwen, VP of sales and marketing at Crestron International. “As such, we see the potential for significant growth and I’m looking forward to working with Simon to establish how we can capitalise on the potential we see in this area.”

Clarke joins Crestron having spent the last six years with Xerox Europe, where he joined as channel marketing manager and rose to become European marketing manager.

Crestron’s second appointment is a promotion for Mark Tallent, who becomes international lighting and building controls product manager. In this new position, Tallent will be focusing his efforts to further grow the company’s business throughout the EMEA region, promoting Crestron’s solutions for full lighting control and integrated building technology (IBT).

“The requirement for buildings to be as energy efficient as possible is becoming more and more important to customers,” said Tallent. “In particular, the European Commission’s 20-20-20* targets have to be met and this presents significant opportunities for Crestron. We need to move building science to a more sophisticated level. Right now, design teams work in ‘silos’; Crestron integrated building technology can bring all the different design disciplines together to realise huge benefits in terms of control, management and savings. Being a part of the building design process will mean incredible new sales prospects for our dealers across the EMEA region and I am looking forward to tackling this exciting opportunity.”

Tallent most recently headed up Crestron’s lighting control business.
