Extron is now shipping the DXP 42 HD 8K, a compact 4×2 HDMI matrix switcher designed for pro AV environments requiring high-performance video distribution. The switcher supports resolutions up to 8K/60 and ultra-wide 5K at data rates up to 40.1Gbps, and is fully HDCP 2.3-compliant, with applications including Microsoft Teams Front Row systems.
Casey Hall, chief marketing officer at Extron, said: “This matrix switcher sets a new standard for pro AV environments, delivering uncompromising video quality and advanced switching capabilities for applications demanding the highest performance. With support for 8K, plus innovative technologies like EDID Minder Plus, it ensures reliable distribution in any high-end installation.”
The switcher features Extron’s EDID Minder Plus technology, which provides enhanced 512-byte EDID emulation to support the additional memory blocks needed to convey advanced display capabilities via EDID and DisplayID structures, alongside SpeedSwitch for fast input switching. Colour bit depth is automatically adjusted based on the display EDID, preventing colour compatibility conflicts between source and display.
The DXP 42 HD 8K also includes HDMI audio de-embedding and automatic input cable equalisation, aimed at reliably displaying and distributing 8K, 5K and 21:9 aspect ratio content.
