Brompton Technology and ROE Visual have partnered with Unit1 Studio, a producer specialising in avatar-based concert experiences, at Brompton’s West London demo space, using the combination of Brompton’s Tessera LED processing platform and ROE Visual’s high-resolution LED screens to enable a new level of realism in AI-enhanced CGI avatar production.
Unit1 Studio was founded with the aim of making avatar concert production viable for a wider range of artists, reducing costs that had previously limited the technology to only the highest-grossing acts. As an initial demonstration of its capabilities, the company collaborated with singer-songwriter KT Tunstall (pictured) to celebrate the 20th anniversary reissue of her 2005 debut album, Eye to the Telescope. The showcase took place at Brompton Technology’s West London demo space, where a ROE Visual Topaz 1.5mm LED screen and Brompton Tessera SX40 4K LED processor were used to explore colour accuracy and dynamic calibration in detail.
Barney Wragg, CEO of Unit1 Studio, said: “What separates the way we worked with ROE Visual and Brompton was their understanding that this was going to be time-consuming, but we all needed to work together to see where it could go. Brompton’s support team was there for us every step of the way.”
Jonathan Sheard, managing director at ROE Visual UK, added: “ROE Visual’s focus on precision and consistency gives creators the freedom to push realism to the limit, and we’re proud to be part of opening a new chapter in immersive, avatar-led live performance.”
Rob Fowler, director of business development at Brompton Technology, added: “Just as in virtual production, realism is key, and the final one percent can be the difference between success and failure in selling the illusion.”
